First, I want to write that my swap buddy wasn't tardy - she mailed my package a month ago. However, I gave my mom's address since I wasn't sure where I'd be living when this swap was over. After car troubles, I finally got to my mom's house last week to pick up the package. I wanted to make it clear that my swap buddy was great... I'd hate to give Kristine a bad rep.

Without further ado, the handknits from my fabulous swap buddy from Colorado, Kristine....

My package included one MDK hexagonal washcloth in Peaches 'n' Cream "Fiesta," two handknit sachets of moth repellent (which I will put to good use with my boxed-up off-season clothes), and the divinely delicious green chile jelly. Thank you, Kristine! I loved the cloth and the whole package.

I received my Euro cloth from Babette of Mother-of-Pearl. It's bright pink, and I love it! She also made me a beautiful cabled dishcloth, and sent some yummy yarn and soap. Unfortunately my camera has crapped out on me, but as soon as I figure out what's going on with that I'll post some pictures.

I also got my package sent off to my sp; I hope you enjoy it!

Hey everyone, it's Tracey here :) Just wanted to let anyone who hasn't shipped their packages out yet to know that Monday is the last day to get that done. PLEASE if you are not able to get it done by that day then let Holly and I know as well as your partner. I think most people have already gotten theirs already, or they are in the mail, and that's awesome!

We've had some requests for another round of swapping, so Holly and I agreed, we should do another swap. The signups have not yet began, so don't sign up just yet. I'm thinking sometime next week we'll open them up, get an email set up and what not. I do have some questions. Those of you who are interested, would you prefer another swap where we do the warshrag from MDK? Would you prefer a themed washcloth? If so, what are some themes people are interested in? I would like to keep it a washcloth exchange, so think along those lines, let us know what you like in the comments and we'll go from there. If you know anyone who wants to join up in a swap, by all means, everyone is welcome! There's no limit, we'll just set a deadline for sign ups :)

Hope everyone has had fun with this swap, I had a lot of fun doing it, and I know Holly did as well!

You all need to know what a wonderful swap partner Lissa is! Her first package to me was lost in the mail so she emailed me letting me know she was sending a 2nd. And what a 2nd it is!

My Swapcloth pal, Lacey, sent me a "Dye Package!" Actually, I guess I was her pal, and originally mailed her a package. But she has now reversed roles on me! I had admired some of her dying progress on her blog, and made mention that I had never dyed my own yarn. So she sent me a package with white cotton yarn, dye, gloves, and instructions - how thoughtful! I can hardly wait to embark on my dyeable journey! I .L.O.V.E. the warshrags! I've had Christmas on my mind lately - plotting making some small gifts were friends & I do love the holidays so the Christmas dishcloth will get used as will those super-cute Halloween buttons you're looking at - there are frogs, witches shoes, pumpkins, etc. I just have this vision of a Baby Bib O' Love Halloween Collection.... Must. Find. Baby.

And seriously Paula - you're weaving in skills are so much better than mine. (Sorry Susan!)

Also in the package was a cute little lamb, a ball of purple sugar n' creme (which would coordinate quite well with the Hallowen buttons) & a beau-ti-ful blue & creme washcloth - I always love to see how the variagated colors pool & stripe.

I rec'd my package last night! I was so happy.
Inside was 2 skeins of dishcloth cotton, some goatsmilk soap, tea & some homemade stitch markers. But the best was the EuroFlax towel!! What a wonderful job she did on it! It is a shade of eggplant that may not show up very well in the photo I took.
But trust me it is lovely, I have already told my DH *hands off*. The biggest surprise is that Joni is only a hop ,skip & a jump from where I live. Thanks again, Joni, I will treasure it forever!

My package arived in the mail today. Brooke was my pail, and she really spoiled me. She sent 2 ball band cloths, 1 hexigonal cloth with a lovely smelling handmade soap, 6 balls of Peaches & Cream yarn (which I haven't been able to find where I live), vintage aluminum knitting needles, 3 different candies, and lots of notions, including stich markers, a darning needle, a row counter, and post-it flags for marking patterns.

Look what I got in the mail today!

All this great stuff from Lacey!! I got two ballbands, doggie soap, flower soap, and kitty notecards. And there were Disney stickers as well... this woman really figured me out. My little boy has already lay claim to the doggie soap! Can you believe she hand dyed the yarn for my SwapCloth? And we're both teachers (all be it at very different points in our careers!) She sent 2 warshrags, in "over the rainbow" and "hot pink." Pink stitch markers (cuteness), three balls of cotton yarn...more warshrags to come, and this fun holdy-stuff potholder thing. I think this last thing is groovy! It is just the right size to hold randomness.

I received my package yesterday, although since I live in an apartment, the postwoman left a slip in my mailbox, asking me to please pick it up at the post office (a place I love to frequent, ironically.) I waited all day at work in sweet anticipation, knowing that it must be my swapcloth package - and it was! Look at what my fantastic pal, Beth, sent me!

I can't begin to express how thoughtful she was. A beautiful cloth (in the pattern that I have been struggling with and really wanted to see in person,) 2 skeins of KnitPicks sock yarn, and a pack of neon mice for the other members of my household, Muffin and Sam. How great is Beth? Thank you so much Beth - you made my day!

My package from my swap partner arrived on Friday. It was very exciting. I learned my partner is lauriec. She made two bright and lovely cloths. She even included a bar of soap and stitch markers that she made herself. There was also a sweet note that she wrote. I learned we once lived in the same city, Long Beach CA and that we are both stay at home moms of toddlers. I have more pictures on my blog.

I'm almost done with my swapcloth partner's surprise. I just need to weave in some yarn ends and I'll be getting to the post office on Monday or Tuesday :)

I received my cloth swap package and wow! Brenda did such a great job. I was so surprised to receive 3 cloths! Pink and white, beautiful knitting, and handmade soap (thanks Brenda's Mom!). The soap is perfect for me, and as I wrote to Brenda, I feel so pampered just looking at everything. :)

I am just about ready to mail my cloth swap, and I also am in the towel swap--that will be done next week. I am having a great time with this!

I was wondering, for those in the Euro swap: Are you planning on washing your towels before you mail them out? I wouldn't normally do such a thing, but I know that laundering greatly improves the appearance of the linen yarn. Any input?

This is Holly of HollYarns and I got my package from Donna at Creative Controller. Donna happens to have an exciting job as an air traffic controller in Australia. I don't imagine she gets much knitting done while working! Anyhoo, I gasped in joy when I pulled out the beautiful washcloths she knitted; they are so soft and so gorgeous. Yesterday I received a package from Linda C. She was so insightful. After looking at my blog she chose colors based on the color of the yarn I bought to make a curtain for my kitchen. She selected bright colors (I love bright colors), which just happened to also be Virginia Tech colors, where I got my Master's degree a couple years ago. She also included some potpourri and a row counter bracelet. I have been fascinated by these bracelets and have been trying to figure out how to make one. I am already using the one she gave me to make the Spiral Rib Bag from One Skein. Thanks again Linda.

Now, my partner already emailed me to let me know that she forgot to include a note telling me who she is (and I'm assuming my partner is a she -- please forgive me if you're a he!), but I just couldn't wait to find out before posting this "thank you" to the list. Once my partner reveals her/himself I'll post again to let everyone know who made these beautiful cloths. Now my only dilemma is which one to use first! :)))))

Why I love knitting in the car. . .

Because you can get a ball band cloth done, that's why! Our MOMS group had a family fun-day today @ the Lane Packing Co. in Ft Valley, GA (about 1 hr's drive from where we live). Hubby drove while I knitted, I mean navigated! By the time we were home at 2 I had my cloth done!

I managed to get my 1st cloth done last night watching Elizabethtown as hubby was watching his beloved Sci Fi channel. A little time was spent this afternoon on stitch markers & voila---my swap cloths & goodies for my partner are done!

I'll get them out to her either Monday or Tuesday so they will be arriving in someone's mailbox by the end of the week!

I accidentally doubled up on a couple people and of course, I don't want that :) So, if Holly emailed you with a pal, and I emailed you with a different pal, and you haven't already contacted us about it, please do so right away so I can fix it and make sure everone has just one pal. (Unless you want to have two, and that's fine too, but don't feel as though you have to).

Again, the deadline to ship is Monday Sept 18. If there's an issue with that, please let your pal know, as well as Holly and I, that way we can all be on the same page :)

Hi Everyone!

I hope you're all doing well! As Holly said in her post, we're working on our emails out to you to get you your swap partners. Those of you in my group should also have yours by Friday if you don't have them already :)

Also, just a few rules and instructions for those that have never done this before or might have questions.

1) HAVE FUN! This is a fun way to get to know new people and have fun in the process.

2) Drop your pal a line letting them know they have a pal. We'd like it to remain anonymous if possible for now. When you send your package, then you can reveal who you are. If you do slip and let them know who you are, no worries, that's great too :) Remember, it's all just fun!!!

3) The deadline to ship your items out is September 18, 2006. That's a Monday. If you're seeing that you'll have a problem and can't ship by that day let your pal know her package might be a little late. If you come to find out you're not able to participate after all, please let me know so we can set your pal up with a new pal.

4) If you have questions please don't hesitate to ask them here, or email us at mdkswap AT gmail DOT com :)

Hi all!

I think blogger is having some issues. I sent out all the invites, but some of you seem to have not received them. There was one member of the swap who finally got it after a long wait, so I think the issue is just maybe wait another day or so to see if the invite gets there. Those that have emailed me regarding not getting the invite, I checked and your invite shows still pending, so let's wait one more day and see if it gets there, it might just take a little longer than others. If after tomorrow you don't have it, we'll go from there :)

Deadline news

Hi everyone!

Wow! I'm excited about all the people who have signed up! I think this is going to be a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.

Holly and I discussed a deadline and we decided on midnight Saturday night, August 5. After that, we'll work on getting you all your swap partners ASAP so we can get the yarn ball rollin' :)

Also, we decided on a 6 week swap. You'll have 6 weeks to get your partner his/her cloth. We figured that should be enough time to get what you need, knit it up and ship it. If for some reason that time frame doesn't work for you, or you find out later on that you're having troubles with it, email us and we'll see if there's anything we can do to help out, or we'll make sure one of the SwapAngels can step in.

A little info...
HollYarn and myself are putting
together a Mason Dixson SwapCloth swap!

We thought it would be fun to have a swap where we'll put together pairs, of course, and send out homemade warshrags or Euroflax towels to each other :) We're still sort of putting it together, hopefully in the next day or two we'll have it all evened out, but the gist of it is, we'll most likely have two groups, one for those who want to swap the Euroflax towel (those will be in the EURO group) and those who want to swap washcloths (either one from the book is fine) (those will be in the AMERICANA group). Anything beyond that that you'd like to send is your choice, as long as you do send one of those things. Other treats are not required, but I'm sure will be appreciated, as we all love getting surprises!

We'll be sending out an email to those who have already responded and for those who want to join and have not yet, we have an email account set up at mdkswap AT gmail DOT com
